when the engine cranks, how does the injector spray look? is it supposed to be a fine mist, droplets, dribbles, jet stream?

we are trying to get a motorcycle engine running for this year's upcoming FSAE competition, but the engine doesnt run. it only runs when we use starting fluid. the engine didnt come with a fuel pump, so we got the oem pump from ebay used (it could be osmething else, but the plugs went right in) we dont know what else to check, but we know the igntion is running ok and that each injector is injecting gasoline
