Default Injector Question

Forgive my newbnes on injecotrs but I have a question (and I did search but I didnt really get an answer for my specific question...only a solution)

Anyway

I got some DSM 450cc injecotrs and when I received them in the mail I inspected them to make sure they were on the up and up. Anyway I looked at the nozzle and saw that 3 of the 4 had damaged protectors (the black thing at the end) (ie cracked, movable, chips and I was even able to pull one off with no effort!!!) So I was wondering what exactly is the purpose of those and what are the consequences of them being damaged and still used. Just wondering if I should get these sent out ASAP for cleaning/repair. TIA!!

Anyone.....??

The technical name for them is pintle caps and it protects the injector pintle from damage. I guess if its purpose it to "protrct" then they are vital......

Yeah, they are not vitle. I've ran my car with a few injectors w/o the cap. Just break off the cap and any remaining pieces. If they're not cracked majorly then I'd just leave on.
