Default immobilizer(sp?) question..

this is what hapened. well the car is a theft recovery. when i got the car in, i put a battery up to it and tried starting it up with a screwdriver in the ignition becase it was busted up. the car turned over but never started and i was guessing it was the immbalizer (sp). is there a way this can be fixed or enabled.?

thanx

Do you still have the original key, or is it a car your trying to steal?

Try to put the immobilizer key as close to the ignition assy as possible.. use tape or whatever you have to use to hold the key in place... the whole idea here is to "trick" the immobi system into thinking that the car is being started with the correct key....

hmm, well i have no key. i actualy found out who the previous owner was and he said hell gimme the key, but i might just call acura and get one made... so should i plug the ECU back in and try to turn the key? i took the motor out already, so i hope everything will work.

Immobilizer keys are rather pricey if you choose to have one "cut" and "programmed" for that car, prolly around $40+ per key... i would consult the previous owner and tell him your problem and see if he won't send you a key...

theres couple ways in which they can tag the ignition system, they either slam a screw driver in there, or they use a type of pulling force, they screw somthing into the key hole then hank the hell out of it and th thowl crap just pops out. or they just bust the ignition. ill take pics of this ignition. the way this car was stolen was that a repo man took it on his flat bed.
