ignition module HELP!
wats up?
over the past couple months i keep having to change the module in the dizzy over n over, wat could be the cause of this? when changed the car works well but then after about ah month or so, i realize ah drop in power, then the tach needle starts behaving erratic, then the engine starts breaking up, after that cant start at all, btw all this is over ah period of time. Then it starts all over again when it's replaced. I went so far as buyin ah nex distributor, same problem, module blew in that 2...

ICM's are sensitive to overheating, which is why they have a heat sink on the back. Make sure you are using thermal grease on the heat sink. A quality CPU thermal grease works best. You might want to check the wires with a multimeter to see if too much power is overloading it. Also make sure the motor isn't overheating at all.
or i'll try those things, motor overheating? u mean coolant temp? dats normal... could the timing cause this, y i ask because a mech told me my timing was off ah couple degrees, but the engine runs strong, only thing is it kinda inconsistent power wise sometimes, btw it's ah bone stock JDM gsr...
Ignition timing wouldn't affect the temperature. The temp could actually be lower from the lower intensity explosions. You need to repair your cooling system before you blow a HG.
