Default idle/starting problems.. need help asap

the engine light comes on and goes off only when the car is fully warmed up(or atleast thats what i think makes it come on)
when i got the thing jumped out and the light isnt on.. it turns off and stays off..

when the engine light is on and i turn it on to get codes.. the light just stays lit and doesnt do anything

anyone have any ideas?

when the light comes on it starts idleing rough (up and down between like 1000-and 1500rpm) maybe u guys for some ideas for me to try that arent alot of work.. i wanna try to get this fixed for tomorow so i can goto skool and all and not have to worry about it

ive heard this could be the tps sensor.. what do u guys think?

earlier the car felt like it wasnt even firing for about 5seconds than i had to keep it floor and idled up for about 10seconds more before it fixed itself out

anyone with any experence help me out.. with how quick its been getting worse.. i feel like its going to get me stranded somewhere soon

sorry mods for posting this in 2 places.. it was my mistake.. if u want to delete the post in integra forum u can

Make 100% sure that when you loop the diagnostic connector to get that codes, that there is total contact between the wires.

As far your idle going up and down, does it just constantly go up and down at idle? If so, it's probably a vaccuum leak, which could include the intake manifold gasket.

the idle only goes nuts sometimes.. but its always when the check engine light is on.. if its not on at the time.. it doesnt do it

i had a vaccum leak a while back.. i know how that revs it up..it slowly goes up and drops.. this is a quick up and down.. sorta like a trans brake would do on a racecar but the computer is making it idle like this

and i did make sure on the codes jumper wire

like i said.. the light for check engine dont stay on all the time.. it comes on after i drive the car for a little bit..

when i have it jumped off.. and turn it on to get codes.. the check engine light will turn off (which means i have it jumped right) but than when i run it and the check engine light comes on.. than when i jump it out and try to get codes.. the light stays solid

do you think it could be the tps sensor causing this problem?

also correct me if im wrong (im basing this on domestic car experence) the tps runs timing advance right? could it be posable that its advancing the timing to full causing the car not to want to start?.. like is it posable for it to go bad in this way.. because the car barely wants to start like eather timing isnt right.. or its flooded out with gas.. than when i hold the pedal down floored maybe it fixes something or lets something let loose inside the tps?.. because like i said.. its not a constant engine light problem.. only on about 75% of the time.. as if its going out quick

I think the timing is advanced with more than just the TPS, at the very least vaccuum, too (because it also measures load).

There are probably a few things it could be. I would take it in to a shop and have them throw it on the scan tool. Even if the code is erased, they should be able to bring up recent codes. It sure beats just throwing parts at it.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

my cousins works at a shop.. they got 4 mechanics with every type tool to do everything.. they cant pull codes form my car because its OBD-0... only can do some obd-1's and all obd-2's

0's are known for the blinkin light diagnostic.. but that just wont work on mine

DOH! i don't know what to say.

I wouldn't throw hew parts at it, if possible. If you have a buddy with the same engine, put his stuff in question on your car until something works. It may take a while, but you should get to the bottom of it eventually. I'd start with the whole throttle-body assembly cuz the TPS is in there.

also today i made a wire with connectors on both ends.. it fits tight and snud in the code jumpoff connector.. still no codes coming up.. even tried unplugging the tps to get it to spit me a code.. nothin

also the idle jumping has changed.. its very fast up and down... 1300-1550rpm

and the car doesnt idle low like it used too.. its about 1100idle when its not jumpin like nuts

this might be a little late, but i think I figured out how to check the CEL codes. I think I remember reading somewhere that there's an LED on the ECU that flashes. So, peel back the carpet in the PS footwell and try looping the diagnostic connector again. Good luck

My buddy said it's in a clear window on the big side of the ECU. He also said when you pull the carpet back, there's a cover that you gotta take off, too.
