Identifying year on LS head

Identifying year on LS head
Now I know on a vtec head the first set of 2 #'s is the year, Does this hold true on a LS head, there is 4 sets of 2 #'s. Is is the first set or last to tell the year?

Thats what I thought, Except it doesnt like like a 01 head. More like a 90 which was the last set of #'s. The head also has a plastic spacer between the head and intake manifold. Was that on a certain year?
