ID this LSD.
Came out of a Y21 tranny.
I am not aware of Honda using a purely clutch activated LSD in any trannies.
Check the pics, and let me know what you think.
The diff.
Here is a pic of the diff opened up. Notice the hexagon shaft output.

Here is another with shim and washer removed.

And here is a closeup of the clutch discs and plates.

And this is a KAAZ clutch comparison, and the ones they compare theirs to, appears IDENTICAL to the ones in my LSD. Note the rounded outer tabs on plates, and the 12 point inner "splines" on the discs that fit the hexagon axle output.

And here is the side gear carrier... rounded on one side to load the clutch packs upopn acceleration, and stepped on the other to load the clutch packs under braking. I assume this is a 1.5 way LSD due to the different shape on the acceleration and brake side of the carrier.

So if anyone can identify this LSD, I would greatly appreciate it. I need to know what fluid to use with this, as I doubt honda MTF is compatible with clutches.
Thanks.

I believe Honda did use clutch packed LSDs in their really early generation cars. But I recommend a fluid built for clutch types, i.e. - using kaza or spoon fluid will work since their lsds are clutch types.
so what was the outcome
is this a tranny you own ...or fixing it ....just curious cause my friend sent a tranny back to get looked at and it turned out to be a spoon drag lsd or so they told him
