Default IACV vs EACV ... are they the same?

The newer cars have an IACV (Idle Air Control Valve). The older cars had an EACV (Electronic Air Control Valve).

Are they essentially the same? Just curious because I'm doing a swap.

I'm assuming they are the same since both will cause a CEL 14 if they are malfunctioning.

Thanks,
Sonny

They DO perform the same function, but I'm not sure about them being the same physically, in their internal workings.

A bit of History: Before 92', the valve body located on the back of the intake manifold used to control idle was referred as EACV.

Very good question...... Ever since i swapped my d16y8 into my crx i have been having idle problems. I did not use the eacv from the crx, instead i used the iacv which is on the back of the manifold.

They both have the same number of wires, but i am at a loss. I sure am interested in your findings.
