Default I must be forgiven

I'm your stereotypical mustang owner......Cocky, Wanna-be tough, thinks my car is invinsible....well at least i was. I am selling my mustang soon, becuase i really can't afford a car like that becuase of it's problems it was a lemon when we got it. Also it's newengland and if any of you know what the snow is like here then you know RWD is a joke in the snow. So i'm in the market for a light car that can be made fast. I know very little about hondas, Although my parents own an accord which i drive frequently. I used to **** on hondas all the time, so this took a lot of thought. I was an adamant domestic anti-rice type of person. I've reasearched varius setups and this is what i've decided i'd like to start with: 88-91 Honda CRX (SI or the HX?) With a b16a swap. I'd gut the entire car except for the front 2 seats and the dashboard/gauge clusters. My goal is to get around 200 HP at the front wheels. Run low 14's high 13s...then i'd work on my autocross setup. I don't know what you do for mods on hondas really. All i know is on a 5.0 you Put on exhuast, headers, intake manifold, 61cc cylinder heads and a mild cam and your at around 350 at the rear wheels. Of course you don't do the same on the honda. I would guess the first thing you would do on a honda woul be Headers, Exhuast....Short ram air intake? I really have no idea. Any input is apprieciated

Not to be an ***, but you should hit the top right button that says "SEARCH". It might suck, but all you have to do is read. Asking educated questions AFTER you've read will get you better responses.

Good luck with your build.

The best CRX to get is the '88 HF, it weights about 1800lbs (although it will be heavier after you're done). Generally the newer it is, the heavier, and stay away from the SI...those are the heaviest. Still, I got a 91' dx becasue you can only look for the damn car for so long. An easy and relatively reliable way to get 200+ at the wheels is go b16 and do a light turbo setup. You're a little confused though, becasue with 200 at the wheels you'll be doing 12s with proper tires.

If you want low 14's go stock b16, b18c, or a b18c5, which will easily get you way below 14s. The good thing about these setups is that you can pretty much be factory reliable, as you'll be getting these numbers with stock engines....just slap them in and get an exhaust that can handle the extra air. I suggest a custom one so that you don't have a fart pipe. Oh, and don't worry about beating on the engines/ car...I raced, redlined at every occasion, delivered pizza with, and generally beat the crap out of my b16 (which was a 10 year old engine from some random japanese junkyard). It was a 100% engine until that fateful day (see sig).

Good luck!

And oh yeah, Theres a problem with my moms 1997 Honda Accord LX (130,000 Miles, Half tank of gas 97 octane, oil changed about 800 miles ago, brand new clutch and battery) I was delivering pizzas, beatin around it as i usually due and all of a sudden the car didn't seam like it was responding, So i looked at the gauges and a few lights were on (oil and battery, maybe check engine dont remember) I pushed the pedal, the rpms when up and it jolted, and the car started putting and you could here knocking noises from the engine compartment. Finally the car came to a stop, I turned the key in the off position, then tried to turn on the car, and it attemted to turn over. The sound was rather disgusting, It was kinda like a banging/grinding/whining noise, You can hold the key for as long as you want and the car wont turn over and on. I didn't see any leaks anywhere, the belt seamed fine, No smoke or anything. The engine bay seemed to radiate a bit of heat. I know the car needed a new heat shield, according to the dealership, and it seamed like the car was running louder than usual. What could this be?
