I just cant get a break
so a couple of my friends come over to look at my car and i start talking to them about the problems with the car, and i already knew that the diff is gone on the car, and my gears are grinding so i ordered another complete tranny. Then he asked me did i check my axles, i said no and that was it but ive been thinking about that the whole time now. could it be the axles and diff? How would you know that the axles are broken. The last time i moved my car it sounded like i was riding on a flat tire or something. Just want to know so i know to buy that while im getting parts for my car.
A cracked or broken CV boot can cause that "flat tire" sound. CV boot is kindof difficult to replace, might as well replace drive axle. Of course this might not be the problem... Lets see what others have to say, I am not very knowledgeable on differentals and axles...
If the inboard cv joints are blown you can have the feeling of a flat tire.
I would definitely check the axles before the trans. Besides, how can you
check the transmission w/o checking the axles first?
