hydro gsr lsd in cable trans???
ok well first off i searched and havn't found anything that clairifies if it will work or not. i have a kaaz lsd from a bad gsr hydro trans and i'm woundering if i can put it in my cable s1 trans (jdm not ls) with a bad diff.
now if this doesn't work i also have a ys1 gsr trans that i would like to know if this will work in?
lmk as i don't have a trans for my car right now

sure you can put that diff into any cable b series transmission as long as it's got a 4.40 countershaft if that's what you got. and use rollerbearings. you could use the roller/shim/race setup but clearance everything. because if it is indeed a gsr/itr od. size diff, then it has to be at least 4.40. you may have to shave the cast support webbing though if you're diff has interference when you spin it.

it will work in either trans as long as you make sure it's 4.40 ratio on the final drive. you should not be worried about the fitment. like i said you may have to shave a little out of the case. and don't forget the speedo pinion is different from oem. if you don't have the speed sensor/pinion gear out of that gsr trans, you will probably need to source a cable kaaz b-series speedo pinion unless you run electric speed sensor...if so, i have a kaaz pinion for b series electric speed sensors.
the speed sensor gear is machined onto the lsd... will this work with a cable speed sonsor...
sorry for acting all noobish i just don't usually work on trannies

right. i know the diff speedo ring is machined into the end of the diff. the mating speedo sensor pinion is what i was talking about. if you had this diff in a hydro gsr trans, you prolly have the speedo pinion gear on the sensor, but i don't believe it's compatible with the cable speedo sensor assembly. unless you converted to electric speed sensor, this might be your only issue which would be sourcing the speedo pinion gear so your speed will register etc.
