How Would a Bad OBD1 Distributor Act With No CEL Code, or Is It Possible?

I am stuck with a weird electronic issue as I have obd0 to obd1 conversion in a car that ran fine before with only a steady blinking CEL but NO code.

New distributor wired as per manual
Injectors getting fire and they were not changed and have resistor box already
Timing and Spark plugs plus wires OK
Ran all the dizzy wires and injector wires back thru the jumper harness to ECU and all are correct

Car will occasionally act like it is going to start and then hold a less than 500 rpm idle but not respond to gas pedal input and then die after 2-3 seconds of this sickly running.........

Any ideas?
