how to tell jdm from usdm b16a?
uhh that's actually false with more info to follow....
There's US & JDM so called '5 series' and '1 series' b16's.
if you pop a hood one way to tell right ABOVE the serial number is the actual 'B16A' stamp.
If the stamp is a stand alone 'B16A' its JDM
If the stamp is followed by a number 'B16A1/B16A2' then it's US.
distinguishing the year of the engine is another story....
but a real easy way is to look at the head near the Vtec solenoid...
look for the raised '30'. If there's a '30' there, the head is 92+.
'30' = 92+ B16A head
No '30' = 89-91 B16A head
anyone can be sneaky and mix around intake manifolds, so that's why I'm pointing out the raised '30' thing...

To tell if it's a 1st generation B16, it wil have DOHC written bigger than VTEC on the valve cover, the 2nd generation B16, will have VTEC larger than DOHC
