How to take apart an Autometer gauge?
My EGT gauge stopped working and I have determined that it is a contact or something in the gauge, when I push on one of the terminals the sensors connects to the gauge starts working again. The only problem is that I havent figured out how to get it apart. I have taken the nuts off of the long studs that are used for mounting and it seems the circuit board is now "loose" inside. The silver surround on the front seems to spin if I twist hard but does not want to come off. I am wondering what to do, It may be that I just need to pull harder but I also dont want to break the gauge beyond repair. Any help would be great! Thanks!
The outer rim (holds the glass) has to be bent out from the backside. Not from the glass side. You only have to bend up the lip on 1/3 of the rim to pull it off. Pull the nuts off the back and everything should slide out.
I used a little screw driver to pry up the lip. Little at a time.
