Default How to protect welds from rust & corrosion?

I'm getting a Magnaflow resonator (aluminized steel) welded into my exhaust system. A friend of my father's will be doing the welding. I'm thinking he may take care of the prepping of the weld afterwards, but just in case not. Do I just use high temperature gray primer on the welds? Would it hurt to spray the entire resonator down afterwards? I'm going to also paint my muffler black while it's off the car. Anyhow, just need some input on protecting the welds.

PS <> I read about 10 threads and one reply stated high temperature paint. I was thinking high temp. primer. Confused now!

High temp paint should be fine. Go to schuck's, pep boy's, autozone, or something similar and just pick up a can of high temp engine enamel. Should work just fine for you.
