how much would you pay for this car??
I am planning on making a project hatch and i found a 92 si for sale with a blown gsr motor. It has gsr wheels full exhaust and intake. I was planning on replacing the internals with forged pistons/rods. When i talked to him he says when the motor blew he heard a loud knocking noise which sounds like a spun bearing or something. He wants 3200 obo for the car but im no stupid enough to pay that. If i can get it for around 2500, do you think its a good deal? Im just hoping the crank isn't damaged although i could always get a used one. It will prob cost around 1k in parts to get it running again and ready for boost so dont think its such a bad deal. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks
I think 3200 is a good deal. People in georgia are asking crazy prices like 5000 cause everybody is looking for a hatch. You might be better off just buying a used gsr block, rebuilding a block is very expensive and so is the machine work.
well the rebuilding isn't the problem thats why this caught my eye. It will be a project car and i will be building the motor for boost. I can do the rods/pistons myself and if the sleeves are bad i will send to be resleeved. Anyone else?
amen to that i payed 3200 for a 93 hatch with body damage and that was the cheapest i found it was worth it though cuz i love my hatch

Im in the NYC area, and I think I saw that car for sale. It sounds ok, esapecially for $2500. As long as the body is in good shape.
Just think $2,000 for a good SI rolling shell and $500 for a GSR tranny (plus free axles, linkage and mounts). Even if all else is Fucked, you didn't loose out.
Just as long as the rear wheel wells arn't rusted out, do it!
