how to make a h22 rev quicker???
i just recently swapped the h22 in my civic, but dissapointed in how slow it rev compared to my gsr..i love the power that the h22 puts out but i would love to have it rev quicker....let me know what i can do..thinking about a lighted flywheel but dont know of which brand to go with, thakns
Lightened fly is key, about 11 lbs is nice, in my opin. You can get your stock fly lightened and balanced by a machine shop or engine shop, but also a larger t/body would help
i've been told to avoid aluminum flywheels coz they're not as strong as the factory. also since heat is a better conductor of heat, which would wear the clutch faster, would that be much of an issue with an aluminum flywheel? someone please enlighten the ignorant!!!
how much does it cost to get your stock lightened and balanced at a machine shop???? what are the pros and cons of doing vs. buying an after market one??
dont lighten your stock one. it reduces the strength by a LARGE percentage.
i have a clutchnet (got mine through ben@importparts) and i love it.
as for clutch wear maybe a little more on a stock clutch but if you upgrade to an aftermatket one i wouldnt worry about it.

Fidanza for the H22a. It is aluminum with steel friction plates. THe plates are machineable and replaceable. These plates absorb the heat and are what the clutch disc adheres to.
Another way would be to lighten your rotational assembly...

Do you mean make it rev quicker while just reving in nuetral, or do you mean rev quicker while in gear?
If you mean while in gear, add more HP
If you mean in nuetral, things like flywheel, nose pully, and lightening the rotational mass will do it for you. Oh yes, adding more HP will do it for you as well

Clutchmasters manufacturers Fidanzas flywheels. They are the same. If you're interested in picking up a Clutchmasters Lightweight 8.5lb billet aluminum flywheel for your H22A, email me. Thanks.
Original poster, keep in mind the lighter you go the harder it will be to drive.
With too light you make:
-have to rev high to leave a red light (more wear on clutch)
-have problems with upshifting due to the rpms dropping faster
Just a little warning there. For race use, its great though. However, building a race car, and building a fast street car are two different things.

I'm saying it is a matter of personal preference. I personally wouldnt go that light on a street car. Will it rev REALLY fast compared to stock? oh yeah.....
Will you have problems driving it at first? Possibly, depends on how much experience you have had with them. Is it streetable? Yeah, it is. Again, just depends on what your looking for.
As a side note, since no one has mentioned it as of yet. Lighter flywheels usually lead to noiser trannies. So dont get scared if you get one and your transmission is making more noise. Its normal
I have a question of my own here guys. Whats the weight of the stock H22a flywheel? Somewhere between 15-20?

how effective is the lightened flywheel with a stock clutch..im am goign to wait for my clutch to go out before i replace...thanks for the comments....please keep posting
Streetability is defined by the driver. I know people that have engines that require race gas ALL THE TIME, are so loud your ears ring before you get down the street...... Its "streetable" to them. Not to me.
How is your 6 puck, and 8 pound flywheel in rush hour/stop and go traffic on the freeway? That is what determines streetable to me.

Stock H22/F22 flywheels are 20lbs i believe. Lightened H22/F22 factory flywheels are prone to shattering, so is any lightened factory flywheels.
well an aftermarket flywheel is supposed to cut 50% of the weight of the factory. let's see, do the math that should equal anywhere between 16 and 20 lb. WOW 12 years of education really paid off.
