How to lower emissions? H22A
Hi all,
I have to take my car for an equivelent of a smog test soon and have a feeling it will fail this time around. I was reading an old school hot rod tech site that said they do a few tricks to the engine to reduce the emissions i.e. opening the exhaust valve clearance a little more, retarding the distributor, changing the engine oil, and a couple of other things. I do have a P28 ECU running a basemap for the H22 at the moment, is it even worth burning a map with reduced fuel just for the test? Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

I have no knowledge about UK smog checks.
Over here, they check timing during the test, so we can't retard it (much) and still pass. If they check your timing, you'll want it in spec.
I've had good results with:

Took an old Civic from "close, but no pass" to "passed easily" for me.
