how to identify type r internally?
HI whats up im new here...anyways need help. I bought a jdm type r motor 1yr ago. Today i pulled the head to find flatter piston heads than the new ones i had just bought. Im afraid i may have been had. Externally its a type r (the noticables, PR3 head, ect.) but im afraid someone may have switched blocks on me before i bought it . Anyways i need some way to figure out if this is 100% type r.. Thanks
if its a JDM type r look at the block it should say B18C
If it says B18C5 then its a USDM type r
If its not any of the 2 above then its not a type r block at all.

Take a look at the piston tops and try and look for the embossed part number.
if you see P73-00 its definitly a JDM ITR block.
if you see P72-00 its definitly a JDM SiR-G block (JDM GSR)
