Default how hard of a push is 98 Newtons?

I'm trying to measure belt deflection, Helms says push on it with a force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf). Anyone know how hard this is?

lbf = pounds of force...

yes i know this, but does that mean i should push on the belt with my finger the same amount of force it would take for me to lift a 22 lb weight with my finger? I'm not that strong, so does this tell me to just push hard as I can?

thanks for the help

There aren't any gauges for pounds of push that I know of, but you could be creative and use a fisherman's weight scale that has a hook at the end. You'll definately be able to pull 22 pounds of force and the scale should be close enough to have you accurately mesure it.

a newton is a unit of force , force is defined as Force = mass x acceleration, a 98 newton force is equivalent to approximately 22 lb of force which is a mild tension. as maybe a better rule of thumb go by the 90 degree rule, a belt should not be able to deflect an angle of more than 90 degrees
