how to ground coil for compression test?
need to run a compression test before i change the timing belt, would be nice to see what kind of shape the rings/headgasket are in as that would be the best time to pull the head. thanks.
I haven't heard of grounding the coil, just pull all 4 plugs and let the wires hang. pull the f/i fuse out of the fuse box under the hood, and test away.. make sure to floor the gas pedal too

Or simply unplug the distributor (which cuts power to the coil) or if your external coil, unplug the coil.
But yes, very important to test at WOT.

As above, pull the fuel injection fuse and also pull the plug on the distributor (the grey one), i had the misfortune of a complete idiot comp testing my integra a while back, he just pulled the plug wires and plugs, popped in the tester and cranked the engine (did not press the gas pedal) i was standing watching him, and on the last cylinder #4, there was a large bang/pop after about 2 seconds of cranking, he said that it was just backfiring through the intake/throttle body. So he put the plugs back in and re-connected all the plug leads and tried to start the car...no joy! tried everything, different leads, different ignitor (as the plug ends were dry after cranking) so we assumed it was the coil, he got me a new coil (from a HRV- my cars a JDM teg) which he had to pay for, put it in and it started first turn of the key!
