How do I trick OBD II?
Ok,
Figured it out, I talked to the muffler shop and they told me that the CEL is from my catalytic converter. They told me there was a way to trick the OBD II system into thinking it was using the factory converter and keeping it from running in "gimp" mode!
I did a search on the forum and only saw a breif mention of either using a 10K ohm resistor somehow or a ceramic sleeve of some kind for the O2 sensor. Does anyone know if this will work, if so how do I go about doing it?
Also, they told me that it would not hurt my car to run with the CEL on and that it would just be annoying. I figured otherwise, will this hurt the car?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What error code are you throwing?
I have been throwing code 1(high or low voltage from the primary O2 sensor) for quite a while now. The wiring is all phucked up. My car still runs great, and gas milage hasn't been too bad, I think. I even ran a 15.4 at the track.....well, without the code, I only get it the second time I drive my car, so I reset the ECU each run.
It should not hurt the car....the computer has complete tables to run on but they will not provide the best fuel efficency.

Do you still have a cat in your car? How many oxygen sensors are you running? The first O2 sensor takes a reading before the cat and the second O2 sensor takes the reading after the cat. If there is not enough difference it will throw the check engine light. But it should only turn the light on but not throw it into a limp mode. If you are using only one sensor, try wiring the two together, matching colors of course. I have done this to trick the computer before. If you are not using any sensor at all, the car can't run properly. Be sure to pull the negative battery cable after every mod so that the computer can recalibrate itself. Just leave it off for a few seconds. You NEED your O2 sensors.

NO
you dont NEED the second one. just the first.
Unless that check engine light REALLY bothers you, just disregard it.
it wont do anything as far as performance or general function is concerned

Well, found out how to trick the system! I am going to make a little gadget that will make the ECU think everything is a-okay, and if it works I will keep you all posted.
Well my little set up has been on for a week now and no CEL!! Thought I'd let you know, if interested on how to make just let me know. Thanks for everyones help!

Well here you go, it is pretty simple and easy to do if you have all the tools needed. Whoever the guy was that made this up is pretty smart, I figured it would have been a whole lot harder than that. If anyone else gives it a shot, let us know how it went.

That was a very easy one. I built an oscilating circuit that gives the ecu the voltages without the o2 sensor. Mine has been on for months, but the above idea is so much easier..... No codes yet...
I installed a test pipe in place of my converter over a year ago and ran it with the check engine light on for a long time. I dont think it ever hurt the performance of my car. But it did get on my nerves sometimes that bright yellow light. I may have to try this little contraption on my car thanks for the web address
