How do I test an ignitor?

I'm going through the distributor for an 89 Integra (1.6 DOHC D16A1) to make sure everything is ok before I install it.

The Helms manual gives instructions on how to test the coil. The coil is good. It says "See Chapter 11" to test the ignitor, but chapter 11 only shows how to test the ignition output signal.

How can I tell if this ignitor is good?

Only way I knew is to put in another one.

That's not an option. There is nobody I know that has this car around here. There's gotta be a way to test it! The damn older Helms manuals are not nearly as detailed as the new ones.
