How do Airbags work ?
Given that the car I intend to buy has no pass air bag... and these days, people are putting integra dashes into civics.... How does the airbag system work ?
I mean I know it's a pressurized gas that inflates a nylon (or vinyl) ballon, but I want to konw about the sensors.. .where are they located ? What do they sense ?
Can you equip a non SRS car with airbags, or does it cost like $5K+ ?

whew...i was afraid this was a susupension question. =P
Thanks Kamin... it was simple and to the point, but I more wanted to know where and how the sensors work. I mean, can they be mistakenly triggered ? Can you add an airbag to a non equipped car ? Does Sensor position matter ? Are these questions too in depth ?

this is not directed towards you X2BOARD, but for the safety of anyone who may come across this post...
You really wouldn't want to consider it for safety reasons... I made this point once before and will do so again...
Do not attempt to service,remove,re-install airbags without following the proper procedures!!!
if the car is not equipped, then keep it that way..
if servicing ANY airbag component, dis-connect the battery for a minimum of 5 minutes before servicing...
Be aware of your particlular climate conditions..
dry and windy = static
static = electrical discharge
electrical discharge = Boom!
I have seen these things blow from as simple as dusting off a SRS control unit, luckily the techs head was underneath the dash at the time of detonation... DON"T SCREW WITH THESE COMPONENTS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!
