how do 17in. wheels slow you down??
if you gonna be autocrossing then smaller wheels will be ok.if your gonna be road racing then a larger wheel is ok..basically the smaller wheels make better torque and/or acceleration and the larger wheels for handling and higher speed control

you top speed will be worse because the wheels weigh more, making it harder for the car to accelerate. what it will do is; once you lift the throttle it will take the car a bit longer to decelerate on its own
