How difficult is it to remove a broken temp sending unit from the head?

How difficult is it to remove a broken temp sending unit from the head?
I was tried to remove the temp. sending unit from the head and half of it broke off, leaving the other half in the head. I was wondering how difficult it would be to remove it.
