How to advance and retard timming
alright, basically you have to know how to use a timing light. you attach that, and then to advance timing you turn the dist. towards the firewall, retard is the opposite direction. im not sure how you measure how much youre advancing/retarding though in degrees
first you need a timing gun light.
Second its pretty simple process to do.
On the crank pulley it self you have 4 marks
0 Degrees BTDC
14, 16, 18, respectively all together are the other marks on the crank .
What you want to do is set your gun to 16 and adjust distributor so it flashes at the correct mark which in your case for stock would be 16. Two advance it two degrees redo and adjust distributor fowared a little till you hit the 18 mark.

wait are we talking about ingition timming or camshaft timming?i am talking about intake and exhaust timming is this the same?no actaully its not their marking on the cam gears thats what i want to know how to?
If you're talking about camshaft timing, then you don't need a timing light. What's your question anyway? How to physically change the cam timing? Or do you want to know which way, how much, why to make adjustments...
2nd; for those people who search & find this thread... THIS IS WRONG.
