Default Honing an Engine?

I bought JE pistons with the same specs except for the compression ratio of my stock 1994 Integra. I am pretty mechanically inclined so I plan on doing it myself. The integra engine runs fine but I want to raise the compression. Do I have to get the cylinder honed even thought the engine was in working order before I tore it apart? I just want to pull the old piston out and drop in the new piston and the new rods without a honing.

whenever you install a new set of pistons and rings, you have to hone. NEVER put a set of old rings in a new bore and NEVER put a set of new rings in an old bore. ALWAYS hone when changine either bore or rings.

You NEED to hone so that the new rings will seat. If you have a lot of miles on the motor so that the cylinders might a couple of thousandths out of round, they may never seat. You might want to bore the block .5mm and get an oversized piston to match. Do it right or leave it alone.
