Has any one seen a good write up on honing for the DIY. Im not getting a cross hatch. And i cant pull my block to get to shop.

 

If you are using one of those Hones with the 3 stones that you buy from the local Auto Store then you are taking off to much material. Hopefully you didn't damage the Cylinders. There is an Item that looks like a Toilet brush. It has these little Beads all over it. Don't know if you know what it looks like but if you know how a Baby Bottle Brush looks then it looks just like one of those. Only Bigger. They come in different Bore Ranges and you get the right one to fit your engnine (Bseries is 81mm so you get one in that range) You attack that to a Drill and gently move the brush up and down and it will be perfect everytime

and can i find that type of honing device also at a local auto parts store? how much would those usually go for?
