Default Is a Hondata worth it on a B18B1 LS Engine ??

I mostly post on the motorsports forum but felt this was more relevant here.

I am racing an H4 car in Honda Challenge. Other than an AEM V2 intake and ceramic DC Sports race headers the engine is pretty much stock. It was rebuilt by Kingmotorsports to closer tolerances but it's still a stock LS engine.

Since this is a non-VTEC engine am I wasting money installing a Hondata system?

Some tuners I have talked with say 10-15 hp can be had others say it's a waste of money on a non-VTEC and that at most I will get 5 hp.

Just wondering if anyone here has done this to a LS engine or if you have a well researched opinion on the matter.

with just an intake and exhaust i dont think you can benifit from hondata much more than the stock ECU can handle.

there probably some gains that you will see (not 15hp) but depending how much its gonna cost you it might not be worth it.........

Hondata allows you to optimize the fuel curve with any combination of mods, so I have to highly recommend it. Hell, I'd run it on a stock engine with no bolt-ons.

Hondata is always money well spent. who ever says otherwise has never had a Hondata ECU.
