Hondabond. Anybody use it?
I searched and couldn't find anything.
Just wondering what you guys have used it for?
I was thinking about buying a tube and was just wondering if it was worth it. Think I could put it to good use on my LS/VTEC project?
Thanks,
Cody

Yeah, I use it for everything. It is used for the oil pan gasket, it seals the transmission case, the corners on the valve cover gasket, cam seals, etc.

HondaBond fixes everything. Leaking valve seals, broken piston rings, bent connecting rods, holes in blocks...it's amazing! O.K. maybe only the last one

Well I just got my Golden Eagle LS/VTEC kit today. And I was going to get some hondabond and put it on the plug for the head, and use it like loctite.
I was going to tap the head, and install the plug today but I didn't know if I should use some kind of sealer or something. I figured it wouldn't hurt, and I was also going to put it on whatever threads to keep them tight. Good idea?
*Oh and sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum. This forum moves pretty quick. I'm still a nOOb ya know!

A tiny little 2 oz tube of Hondabond is $20 at my local dealer. Permatex Ultra Grey is virtually the same exact formula and is around $6 and you get like twice the amount. I go with Permatex. Plus you can get the Ultra Grey in an automatic dispenser, while the tube of Hondabond I have is like a little Crest tube.
Same idea with those other "Honda" cleaners and polishes they sell at the dealer--I am sure they are good, but they are quite expensive and you can get equal or better performing cleaners and polishes at Pep Boys or Autozone.

Back to the topic hehehe. I would sugest loctite on the 1/4 NPT plug in the head. The other fittings I've always used permatex super grey for the -an head fitting and where it goes into the adaptor. Along with using it on oil pump, d series oil pan gaskets, trans casings, etc... anything that calls for hondabond use permatex its the same thing

Well I would go with this other stuff you guys are talking about. But I've been winning the bid on eBay for some hondabond for about three days now.
Can I use hondabond on the plug for the head? Why would you suggest loctite? Aren't they pretty similar?

So I can just tap the head. And the screw in the plug?
Or do I need to tap the head, loctie the plug, then screw in the plug?
I'm guessing blue loctite?

Have you compared the properties of both materials? They are not the same.

Permatex Ultra Grey does the same job, and I won't argue that Hondabond seals better, but Hondabond is a hell of a lot easier to work with. It applies more smoothly, and cleans up better.
I did try putting some of each somewhere where I could compare after drying, and the Hondabond blob stayed more flexible after a few days than Ultra Grey did.
I think the extra 4x price is justified by the additional ease of use.

yea, i have noticed a markable difference between the two, especially around winter time. My VC gasket is actually leaking like a bitch right now because I ran out of HB and only had ultra grey. Ultra grey gets hard and crumbles in the winter.
Remember the thread about this on TOO a few years ago?

Yeah I'm going with hondabond. I don't care about price. It's from honda, it's gotta be good ****.
Here's another question.
Should I buy Hondabond and blue loctite?
Using the hondabond has like a gasket sealer type deal and the loctite for threads?
