Honda Ecotec?
Is Honda making GM's Ecotec motors?
I keep seeing ads for GM cars for sale that have Ecotec engines, and they always say Ecotec (Honda). To my knowledge, it's still a GM engine.
Any info, or does this dealer not know what they're talking about?

just like ford, mitsubishi and a few others . as far as i know of, honda is the 1st company to develope verible valve timing.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Where do you get this stuff? You are wrong. Ecotec is just a marketing term used for that particular motor which is used in many GM brands including some SAAB. As far as I am aware the Ecotec has no variable valve timing whatsoever. There were a few companies that had variable valve timing systems out before Honda--but they could only alter the phasing of the cams, Hondas vtec was the first production system that could actually alter valve lift--and vtec didn't alter cam phasing until I-Vtec came along.
