Default high comp pistons with stock cams???

well im buildin my h22 block righ tnow, so far i have darton sleeves, eagle rods, and wiseco 11:5:1 pistons. i know the best cams for me (street driven daily) will prolly either be some skunk/crower stage ones with springs or just skunk2's stage twos with full valvtrain. but after building my blcok i have like no money left, thus i dont really have a good grand to spend on the head. so, can i run this high of compression on stock pistons. how bad will i be hurtin g the horsepwer and are then any possible negative side affects
thanks

no negative side effects. you're just not getting the full potential out of the motor. with a stage 2 cam and some higher revs, that motor will REALLY wake up

so could just run the built bottom end for 6 months or so, then build the head and i would be fine. so i would notice a little bump in hp with jsut higher compression, but will really feal it with the built head, correct?

I wouldn't really consider 11.5:1 high compression, but that's just works out better in your case... Though I rarely work with the H22 I can tell you that you'll be absolutely fine with stock cams for now... Some Type S cams or something similar in spec will probably what you are looking for later on down the road... 11.5:1 really isn't enough to support big cams... We build a lot of B series 2.0L VTEC motors with a wide range in compression... The factory CTR cam works great up until about 12.0:1, after that you really start needing more air... Like I always say for a naturally aspirated setup, headwork and cams are the MOST important combination, getting the compression is the easy part... You can break in your motor with a stock head then swap it with a ported one later on... I personally probably wouldn't do it but that's only becaise I"m weird and I like working in a SUPER CLEAN "environment"... It won't really matter tho, as if you break in your motor "nicely" you'll be rolling for atleast 1000 miles under 3000-3500rpm... Just my $0.02... Good Luck

damn good info thatnks alot, so wha tdo u think waould be a good cam choice jsut like skunk stage 1's or something,. thanks about giving me info on the pistons and cams. sorry i , personally consider that high for street cars, at least aroundme, there is really no all motor competition , mostly jsut boost and spray
