Default Help w/ Koni Coilover Install - Won't clear shock tower?

I bought them used. Too lazy to get pics up, so I whipped up a jpeg. First pic is lookin down on the stock coilover assembly - notice the collar is round and fits through the round opening in the shock tower.

Second pic is koni coilover. The collar has some extra metal b.s. that won't fit through the shock tower. The collar is basically round, but has four metal corners poking out.

Should I dremel the corners off? This doesn't make sense to me. The koni part #'s confirm that the coilovers are meant for my car (98 civic ex coupe) and the seller was supposedly using these in his civic with no problems.

Sorry about wrong forum. No one browses the suspension forum it seems.

if you don't really want to do any metal cutting/shaving... just swap out the hats.

But is it normal to do either? I thought these coilovers were a plug-and-play type deal.

Ten minutes with a metal file. Problem solved.
