Default Help: swap heads

I think I bent some valves the other night and i was going to get new valves install. But the labor to remove the head and put it back together cost like $400. I was wondering if it's possible for myself to take the head off and take it to the shop and let them install the valves and put the head back in my car myself?
I have never worked on internals before, only bolt ons and suspension. Does the helms book or is there a website that would be helpful?

thanks a lot for reading this and replies

HELM manual It's easier than you think. Just get a new gasket for it.
