got a check engine light the other day didnt check the code yet. my speedometer is not working vtec is also not workin and my idle at a stop is at 1500 normally its at 600 and it does not fluctuate weird thing is my rpm still works.just pooped a fuse on my alternator too changed that still same symptoms.a buddy of mine got a gsr same motor n same year like mine i figure i sample his speedsenor popped it on and still the same problem anybody know off the top of there head whats goin on?

 

look down the side where the transmission is. Under the intake tube There should be a wire going down there to a sensor thats you speed sensor.

 

yup i checked the wire and the sensor both look good to me. swapped speed sensor it with my friends one and still same thing!

 

i jus checked the codes today i got a set of multiple codes a code 20 then 41 and then a 17 anybody know what these codes mean?

 

ok i found out that code 17 is the vss since i swapped it with my friends im begginin to think that my sensor is either dirty or something wrong with gauge cluster i reset the ecu same code! and code 41 is the o2 sensor but anybody know code 20?

 

code 20=eld, wich is under the engine compartment fuse box.
code 17, if you swapped the vss and still the same, check your wiring; and o2, well you know...

 

hmm code20=eld must b a blown fuse?

 

ok so today i changed my o2 sensor got a brand new OEM 1 reset the ecu and still got the same freakin codes 20 17 41 i dont understand also my alternater fuse under my dash keeps poopin could there be too much voltage somewere thats causin this?also when the vss is not workin will it make my idle higher?im idling at 1500 checked for vacuum leaks and i found none please help!

 

distributor maybe. i dont know. i have the same exact porblem. 10, 20, and 41. lol

 

does your alternator fuse keep poppin?

 

maybe your alternator are your lights dimming or anything. i know that my tach was doing that and then my speedo was acting all wierd jumping all over the place and i already had my check engine on so i dont know if i was throwing and new codes or not but turns out is was the alternator and i just replaced that about 15 min ago and my speedo doenst work
