help replacing cooling fan assembly
im trying to replace the compressor fan assembly on my 97 civic ex. the only one i have left to unbolt is the condenser line, and earlier i loosen up the discharge thinking i would make it easier for me to pull the fan up after i unbolt the condenser line, it started a hissing sound with a lot of pressure so i tighten it back up. now im thinking of just pulling the fan from the bottom. the problem is the last one to unbolt which is the condenser line, im worried that it has refrigerant like the discharge line that would shoot off. so is it safe to unbolt?
Disconnecting any A/C line will release the refrigerent, [R134a].
This means you will need a recharge.
If an A/C line needs to be moved to access the fan, go to an A/C shop and have the refrigerent recovered properly. 94

finally finished replacing the fan. thanks for the help guys. another question. i had a gauge from ez chill (r134) refrigerant from autozone. the pressure to was almost in the area that indicates adding a refrigerant. what refrigerant do you recommend? location to buy and brand. does my civic use a r134 refrigerant?
Yes, your 97 Civic uses R134a refrigerant.
What is the vent temp., what temp. is the air comming out of the center vents when A/C is on max?
Using a gauge to determine the A/C refrigerant charge is not accurate, things like air temp and humidity, even elevation will effect it, the only accurate way it to recover and then charge with the proper amount.
Testing the vent air temp. is a better indication of A/C charge. 94
