can anyone help? i got a 98 4 door civic ex and my power locks arnt working. when i hit the switch to lock or unlock it dosent want to move. i can hear a click from the door and the box inside the door pannel and i checked the fuse. if anyone knows whats wrong i would really appreciate your help thanks
If none of the door locks are working and you can hear/feel a "click" from the power door lock control box then the control box is probably N/G.
You will need to test the outputs of the control box, you will need a multimeter or at least a 12V test light.
The Honda door lock system is a "ground at rest" polarity reversing system, meaning both the wires going to the door lock motors, [actuators] will test as grounds, [when at rest/door locks not being used].
So first test is to meter the yellow/red and white/red leads at the control box, they should both test as grounds, [full continuity to chassis ground] if either one does not test as a ground, replace the control box.
If both leads do test as ground check for power, [12V+] on the white/green lead, from fuse 51 - 20A, [hot at all times] in engine bay fuse box.
If good check for power on the yellow/red when unlocking and the white/red when locking, when checking for power on the yellow/red and white/red you must also check for a ground on the opposite lead at the same time, EG; when you press the switch for unlock test the yellow/red lead for power, [should be 12V+] at the same time check the white/red for a ground, when you press the switch for lock test the white/red for power and the yellow/red for a ground, let me know what you find. 94
