Odd problem, but he may be right. Clutch was probably installed wrong so that only a little power is transferred, but any load will cuase is to slip imensely. I think it centers around the clutch.

I do not know thew intracacies of the clutch and transimission, but when my clutch slipped, the car hardly accelerated when I hit the padel and the engine revved quickly. I assume that it was transmitting some power. I resolved it by replacing the clutch. I would imagine that a clutch could slip when any decent amount of power is applied to the wheels, or more accurately torque. Maybe the friction dics just aren't grabbing for some unknown reason, but you may have to reinstall or determine if the clutch itself has failed. But I have a feeling it is simply to do with the clutch.

It may be the axles. If the axle splines aren't completely into the mating splines in the trans the tires will turn when its in the air, and not move under throttle when on the ground (trans spins but isn't "connected" to the wheels.
