Well i was driving home tonight from work when my cd player shuts off on me,cofused i payed no atention, then my lights start to dim i get onto campus and the car dies..I try to restart the car and nothing, initally i assume that the altinator has gone bad. so i walk back to get help to puch the car and when i get back to the car about 10 min later i try to start it.. it starts and runs fine and i drive it to a parking spot. The weird thing is that while idling in the spot i turn on the lights and watch the tack the needle drops but the engine still seems to idle fine, i'm very confused eny and all help would be much apreciated, i'm suposed to drive to NJ this weekend for the honda meet....also it was raning tonight

Corrosion is a very poor conductor of electricity. Look for it on all your wiring - engine grounds, battery ground, battery (+), wherever...

Someone once told me that a Tach measures Revs according to the Disributor.. But I could be way off on that..

Yeah - but the ignition module & the ECU are in there somewhere, too.

I didn't know at first that you had a swap...
I guess I'd be looking for flaky connections anywhere in the wiring harness. If the ECU loses its tachometer signal then it quits firing the fuel injectors, right? There's too many connections for anybody to guess over the web... Just a lot of tedious searching.

It could also be your alternator though. i have recently dealt with this problem, seems that the diodes in the altenator gone bad and sometimes put out 12v which is barely enough to run the car without the headlights on, but not charge the battery. just get it checked at autozone for free. then go on from there.

Check out your alternator anyway. It has to be a heluva big short to overwhelm the alternator. If it really was that big of a short you'd be looking for a fire extinguisher. Unless the alternator is barely OK to begin with.
