help, no spark.
hey guys, i have a b18a ob2 integra with aem ems and stock ignition system. the problem i am having is, there is no spark only while trying to start the car. the spark is'nt completly gone but u kinda have to get lucky to get it started and it takes a very long time of trying to get it to start. once it is started, the car runs flawless, no miss firing or anything like that. i've tryed new spark plugs, new cap and rotor, new wires, new distributor, and also we tryed checking with a volt meter to make sure the aem is getting a signal and it is. can anybody think of anything else? thanks in advance.
make sure your coil is getting proper power with a voltmeter, ive also had problems where loose wire connectors cause intermittent failure.
ignition: ecu > igniter > coil > distributor.
when i had no-spark problems, i hooked up an led to verify the ecu is sending the ignition pulse, this was very helpful. the ecu SHOULD be sending that ignition pulse while you are cranking the engine. looks like this is going to be a process of elimination.

yeah my friend's eg is doing the same thing. after he shuts off his car it wont start up again sometimes, then it would start after like 5 minutes of waiting. he has good spark and good timing. i told him it was a fuel problem and proved it to him by pouring a bit of gas in the cylinders and it starts right up and runs smooth like theres no problem no misfire or anything. he's been pouring gas in the cylinders to start it now for about a week now .... try checking your fuel system.....

yea. i have an aem ems and trust me i have sat there for hours on in changing start up fuel, start timing, injector sizes, warmup enrichment tables, and god knows what else. its definetly a ignition problem, but hey thanks for ur help though man.
plug ur stock ecu back in
if it starts fine its the aem..(im thinking it has a bad program)
im sure u tried spraying carb clean while starting to eliminate fuel problems rite

are you sure its not a fuel problem ? and check to be sure its a good cool leave the key on and jump the positive side of the coil to the negitive and you should get a spark out of it if you dont theres a problem with the wires that run to the coil or there is a problwm wiht the coil
