Help!!!! my speedo needle melted off!!!! Ground wire problem maybe?
OK my car is a 88 crx si with a Z6 head on it.I just finished the swap and i dont have the vtec hooked up yet.Well the car staretd fine after the swap but then it just died and the speedometer needle melted off....WTF!!!.
so now if i try to start it it will start but the peice where the speedo needle was will glow a little and the cluster will start smoking and the car will die. now someone on here said it was probably a bad ground and the car was trying to ground itself through the speedometer cable....
So my question is,is there a ground on the tranny or something or maybe the dash?which one is causing this?if i make a DIY ground wire kit from home depot will it solve my problem...??
Edit...i forgot to say im getting a code 20

HAHAHAHA!
Sorry, but you have to admit that's kinda funny. Speedo needle melted off!
Did you forget to attach the transmission ground? I'd look there first.

Well on my D16A6 it went between the pass framerail and some bracket on the tranny. It doesn't really matter where, but make sure you ground it.
