Default help...my speed tach don't work.

okay...when i had my b16 motor in my car, the speed tach worked, but after i changed tranny, the speed tach didn't work....the needle would go up and then down. Now after swapping in my o.g. motor...the tach still didn't work. I don't feel my vtec kick in...Help and Info would be greatly appreciated. By the way, at first i thought it was the vss, but now i don't know. Thanks.

it probably is your VSS. i believe the VSS is one parameter that must be functional for vtec to work too.

when i did my swap, i had a gsr tranny with a vss already, and it working properly at first...until later when we changed the clutch. As for my single vtec, which is in my car right now....i never changed the vss...it's orginal. I thought that maybe it could be the wires or the plug that connects to the vss or something else. Well any more INFO would be great. And thanks for the feedback guys.

I had same problem once and changed out 3 different vss. I ended up having a fuse blown. I think it was #14 in a 2000 Civic. Does your battery light come on with the ignition on/engine off? If not, that's ur problem.

Did you plug the Cable into the new Tranny and put the C clip back on it.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by methos713 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> Now after swapping in my o.g. motor...the tach still didn't work. I don't feel my vtec kick in....</TD></TR></TABLE>

I believe his "o.g." motor means stock and vtec didn't come stock till 92+ meaning no speedo cable
