Default Help me understand

I was reading this "high performance honda builders handbook" and in the one section they are building a turbo 1.8L engine. This guy talks about shrouding and unshrouding on the head for the valve. What exactly is he talking about? He tried to explaine it... I read it 3 times and still don't know what he's talking about.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks!
Frank

did you look at the pictures?

im sure there are pics of a head that they 'unshrouded' - but im not 100%

anyways, unshrouding is where they remove material from around the valves to allow better 'flow' around it.

pretty dark 'science' i guess...

HTH,

yeah there are pics but they are black and white and I couldn't really see a major difference between the two. Although it could have been just because I didn't really know what I was looking at.

Thanks for the reply!
