HELP! List of my engine build problems
Specs:
B18B Engine Block / B16 Cylinder Head
81.5 mm CP 9.0:1 Pistons
CP Rings
ACL Race Bearings (Main and Rod)
Eagle Connecting Rods
I'm planning on running 16 PSI of boost
I just got my engine block machined by a local machine shop and here are a few things that I noticed:
-Cylinder bore tapers .001" (Larger toward the bottom)
-There is a decent sized nick in the deck surface (right on the sleeve), like a wrench or socket was dropped on the engine block right after being milled.
-First piston ring gapped .025" (CP's spec is .020 - .022")
-2nd piston ring gapped .025"
-Finally, the machinist told me he used a torque plate to bore and hone the cylinders, but only 7 of my 10 head studs will thread in the block. The other 3 threaded holes are so trashed that not even a tap will clean them out.
This is the third attempt to have this machine shop CORRECTLY machine this engine block. It seems they cannot get the job done. What would you do in this situation?
