Default Help! Ignition Timing!

Please... someone help a brotha out!
I have a D16Y8 I am trying to retard 1 deg. for my N20 setup and do not have the VECI label on the back of my hood. Can you tell me what it says or get me in the right direction to set the timing. I am not sure wether there needs to be vaccum, or not, and I assume I have to jumper the diag. conn. at the ECU. But.... (here comes a stupid question... bare with me)... once I get to the point of adjusting the timing... how do I know I am 1 degree back... there are no markings.
Thanks a bunch!

you will need a timing gun and to retard you have to bring the distributor forward towards the front of the car just a tad bit.... if you are running a big shot like 80 or above yea reatard like 2 degrees but if you are running a little shot like 50 you will not need to do this now if you have a little bit of testees you will advance the timing like 2 degrees and your car will run a hell of alot better... definitely get some zex plugs or some iridiums you will need them
