Default Help identifying this knocking noise...

My brothers UK 94 civic LSi coupe (D15B7) has started making a strange clicking/knocking while on bends and especially bends with rough surfaces. The noise is apparent in both right and left turns and seems to be more noticeable while breaking on a hill/incline ie. when the front of the car is under more of a load but also happens when braking while driving straight and on the level now and then. We took it into an empty car park and tried driving on full lock in both directions to see if the CV joints were clicking but theyre not!!! Any help or ideas appreciated as he's only after getting the car and he bought in on my recommendation as the car was perfect in every way when i first looked at it...and i'd hate for something semi serious to be wrong with it now. Hmmm clicking may not be the best description of the noise, when i first heard it, it sounded more like a rapid metalic knocking/clunking but not loud and definitely coming from the front of the car and it was only on initial hard braking, but while coasting with foot on the brake the noise disappeared
