HELP Head gasket again???
wasup.....i had myhead gasket replace with all seals and gasket as well......resurfaced the head and compression test check on the head as well....
i had the mugen head gasket put in my b16a....and now im still getting steam smoke out of my muffler.....coolant is being drain faster than it is.....
my question is could anything in the bottom block cause the head gasket to blow???
i know its an open deck motor but the shop i took it too said they did everything right and is now saying it might be the bottom block thats causing it....
Help????
o yeah forgot to add in.....it drove fine for one week, then after that i tried to see if my vtec was still working and after reving high and smoked out of the muffler

did they replace everything including intake manifold gasket? theres a coolant passage in it and if the gasket is bad it could potentially leak into the cylinders, but what were the comression test numbers?
they screwed u, take it back and tell them to fix it. Nothing on the "bottom fo the block" should cause your head gasket to blow. The head is either warped, gasket installed incorrectly or not sealing
your block can be warped.... a cylinder could have moved a slight bit causing the head gasket to blow.....have them check the block and make sure it is flat and everyting is right! or they might have just fu#$ed up on your head gasket!
good luck!

uhh they're suppposed to clean off the block...check for flatness...spray headgasket with copper sealant, resurface the head, and the bolt up after making sure everything is super clean.
if all that has been done...your engine has issues or your getting a leak from somewhere else...
CHECK YOUR SPARK PLLUGS AND OIL for signs of coolant.

muffler is dripping coolant.....the radiator coolant is draining.....blowing out smoke.....shakey at idle.....dip stick has coolant.....
they are so call blaming it on the mugen head gasket or the head studs.....kinda funny eh????
but the motor has not over heated nor anything like that.....
the only think i could think of is that they did not check teh surface level of the block....

whats really pissing me off is that they will not cover it since i brought in my own "gasket".....so they can not go back to their distributor to get them pay for the labor...
they claim that they did everything right and will strip down the block to see whats wrong....but will not fix it
doing this will take about 2 weeks....so call taking their time to check everyting right.....BS?????
not sure what i can do any suggestion

ughh your mechanic is a DUMB AZZ never go back to him again but do make him fix your car. if yoru car leaves the shop worse than it goes in its 100% the mechanics fault simple as that...call the lawer in or something if that fool doesn't fix your car for free. basically the headgasket should do its job which is seal the head correctly. If he did use copper spray that will also aid in the sealing properties of the headgasket and aid in heat transfer.
he can't blame it on the headbolts either because if they were bad he should have replaced them as a "qualified mechanic". also how can the headbolts be the problem if he had torqued them to spec? if they're all torqued to spec there shouldn't be any say that the headbolts were the problem because if they were then they wouldn't have been used at all!

taking the engine back apart only takes a few minutes if the engine is already out of the car...2 weeks who are they kidding SUE THEM.... i changed my headgasket in my corolla using a TRD one...i did it myself as a non certified mechanic and who knows my engine runs great...better than it did before and a tad more power with the higher compression.... i did exactly as i stated above and plus i got my head washed in those parts washing machines on top of getting it resurfaced...
i was thinking of going to honda mechanic and other places to get my car check out.....and ask for a written report
then go to the better business bureau and see what they can do about it....
o yeah i paid 1150.....i got ripped off too

have you replaced the cylinder head studs, because stock are stretch bolts and do not retain there tensile value after they have been used. try arp head studs and then your problems should be like a vague memory
umm costed me a total of less than 150 dollars to do it myself with a TRD headgasket...took me lets say...3 half days. could have been faster but i was taking my sweet ol' time

you're prolly thinking what does your fuel pump have to do with blowing your headgasket, right ?
Greg
Its fairly hard to warp a cast iron block....
Since when did Hondas have a cast iron block?

Good answer...i think the crack is in one of the cyl.sleeves...that could be where his water is going......try this start the car let it run for a min. and then pull the plugs out and turn the motor by hand with a wrench and a 19mm socket and see if water comes flying out when you turn the motor if it does then there is a crack...Or go to the auto parts store and get a leak down tester for the coolant and see from there.......
