Default Help! Having Motor Problems!

Ok, first off so everyone that doesn't know, my motor is COMPLETELY stock. I had the motor rebuilt after my turbo incident back to stock, and all stock parts are back on the car. I got my car back from the shop back in June, and it has been driving fine since then. The oil has been changed regularly with synthetics, and only 93 gas goes in the car. I have a CEL but it is for a burnt out catalytic converter, and has nothing to do with this problem.
Now that you know the details of my car, here's the problem.
When I get up into high rpm's, say 7K+ the rpm's stop going up. They just stop! Say I get to 7,300rpm's it will just sit at 7,300rpm's and stay there. I can sit on it forever and it doesn't move until I shift. Engine noise doesn't built, or feel like it is gaining any more engine speed, it just sits at "X" rpm. This doesn't only happen at high rpm's though, today going to class I was in fifth at 4,000rpm's. I floored it to gain a little momentume and it did not move. It simply sat at 4,000rpm's. Now at the higher rpm's, when it gets stuck, if I continue to keep it WOT I will eventually get some detonation.
Now my first theory was that because of the CEL my car was in safe mode and not running enough fuel, and it is dreadfully hot in Atlanta, and so at the higer rpm's it was running out of a good fuel mixture and causing detonation. So I reset the CEL, and even with no light the same thing happens. The incedent at 4,000rpm's in 5th also happened with no present CEL.
Does anyone have any clue as to what is going on here. This blows my mind. I have never heard of anything like this happening.
Thanx guys, I appreciate the help!
