HELP!!!! Ground Control Coilover....broke apart while jacking up
I couldn't believe what the hell just happened to me..
I was jacking up my gsr at the right rear wheel and going to put the losen exhaust back to postion. (I am not sure if I jacked up too high since I lowered my car damn low. ) the upper part of the coilover just suddently fell apart with the spring. I tried my best to put them back together, but now my gsr just like now spring on it.
what should I do now? is it repairable? should I contact Ground Control?
what's the reason of it? was it not installed properly?
thank you guys

A picture would help since the description is kinda iffy.
What do you mean by "jacked too high"? You didn't install them yourself?
It may be that they are not broken, but that you just have to put them back together. What part do you THINK might be broken. The sleeve? One of the perches? The spring? The strut itself?

There is a threaded sleeve that the collar screws up and down on.
That is broken? If "Broken" then you have to talk to GC. If just unscrewed, then you just have to put it back on.
The top has the stock cap where the spring seats itself.
If the spring popped out a bit. Lower the car slowly and then position it back into place. Then lower the car all the way. If the Urethane bushing fell apart that was included in the kit (Newer kits) .... then you have two options:
1: Remove the insert completely on both sides of the car.
2: Push as much back into place as you can and then lower the car.
Either way, you should be able to get replacements from GC if you bitch enough.
Is any of this making sense? A picture would be cool. Get a digi-cam!!

the post first has to be composed in an understandable form of english before proceeding to help user with the problem
the top sleeve of the coilover was losen and apart from the spring.
now the car is like having no spring(suspension) on it

hello,
that is perfectly normal what you describe. It's not a full coilover body, its a springs perch which does not lock together with the top portion, i..e the spring is always loose and gets pushed against the top piece when the car gets lowered. Yours will be even more loose when you jack it up since you said you have lower the perch a lot anyway.

Keep in mind that GC springs are ALOT shorter then the stockers. When you take all the weight off the spring it won't stay in the strut cap. Just make sure to lower the car slowly so the spring sits correctly.(there is no reason why it shouldn't but why slam it down) hth
